Dear IS Customer

AFFECTED SERVICES: International network traffic (SAT3)
AFFECTED POPS: Between SA and New York/London
GRADE OF SERVICE IMPACT: Major
SERVICE IMPACT: Increased latency
CAUSE OF EVENT: Telco network failure
TIME: 4-2-10 09h38
OUR REF: 1-569983082
CURRENT STATUS: Investigating
ATTENDING: Upstream Service Provider
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Telkom have advised that their upstream service provider, the SAT3
consortium, are still investigating the root cause of a power
configuration problem on the SAT3 undersea cable system.
As yet, they are unable to provide an Estimated Time to Repair (ETR),
and traffic will remain routed across the Restoration path (via SMW3,
ATL-2, SAT-2 and Telefonica links) until further notice, with increased
levels of latency. Customers may experience slower responses
internationally.
IS management remain in close communication with Telkom on this matter
on a daily basis. We will provide further feedback when it becomes
available from Telkom and the SAT3 consortium.
